Content on the page
Publication of the text from the IMPERIUM ROMANUM on the website or newspaper is possible only with the consent of the author and subject to placing the source together with a URL to the page! IMPERIUM ROMANUM (content and code) are possible to be shared on Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Poland (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 PL) licence. Copying of materials is possible for non-commercial purposes.
Content on the website has been published since 2004. Authorship of texts and photos/graphics should be marked in each post. If the author/source is not given, it means that the text was written by the owner of the site. If photos/graphics do not have any source/author, then those are considered to belong to the so-called “public domain”.
Of course, due to the huge amount of materials, the time of the website’s existence on the Internet, and the fact that many articles and photos were sent by readers, there may be an oversight in the matter of authorship. In such situations, please feel free to contact me. I would like to add that the goal of the owner is not to appropriate someone else’s content or claim any rights to photos/graphics, but only to promote knowledge about ancient Rome.
Aim of website
Creating a website and collecting materials about ancient Rome is my real passion, which I try to develop in my free time. I try to improve articles and write new works. Currently, there are over 10.000 posts in the database. I did dream about creating a real compendium of knowledge about the history of ancient Rome, available to everyone. The site has been running for over 15 years and I know that I have achieved it.
However, I still want to develop a website, which requires more and more time and money. Since 2019, there is also an active English version of the website, which significantly increased work. I must admit that my passion surpassed my expectations and became a mission – promoting knowledge about Roman culture and antiquity on the Internet.
For this reason, I am asking all readers for help. If you would like to contribute to the development of the website, there is a way to do it – by clicking here. All payments are voluntary and entirely dedicated to programming and optimization patches, server fees or translation of Polish articles to English. Thank you with all my heart!
Of course, because I am just passionate and do not have a historical education, factual errors may occur. In case of notice an error, please get in touch with me or select the content and press CTRL + Enter on the keyboard – this way you can quickly indicate the error that I will deal with as fast as possible :)
Where did the idea come fro?
It started at school. Roman legions and their way of fighting drew my attention to history lessons. Gradually, I began to explore the military matters of ancient Rome, which over time turned into a real passion, not just military. Information from the Internet was regularly supplemented with book knowledge.
At one point I realized that on the Polish Internet, there is no page focusing only on ancient Rome. This is where the idea of website creation was born. The beginning was difficult, mainly because of my poor knowledge of HTML and CSS. I have been working on IMPERIUM ROMANUM since 2004 and apart from the content, I am also improving the visual sphere of the website and the functionality of the site.
