Visualization of Golden House of Nero, the great palace of the emperor, which was built in the years 64-68 CE. Construction work was stopped after his death. The Golden House of Nero, also known as Domus Aurea, was located between the Palatine and Esquiline hills. It was in the “Golden House” that Nero spent his last day of life in 68 CE.

This investment was met with huge opposition and unpopularity by the Romans, mainly due to the high costs associated with, among other things, the shocking splendor of the decor. Due to this state of affairs, the project was never completed. The Colosseum was built in the land occupied by an artificial lake.

Ancient descriptions and remains discovered during the excavation work have survived to our times.
