Antique coins discovered in wall in Israel

During construction work near the city of Modi’in in Israel, a hiding place with 16 rare silver coins dating back to the 1st century BCE was discovered. – scientists estimate that the coins were smelted between 135 and 126 BCE.

The coins were hidden in the wall of the farm property, suggesting that the owner had deliberately hidden the money, hoping to collect it in the future. The aforementioned building was used for agricultural work, incl. for squeezing olive oil or wine. Numerous partitions and tunnels suggest that the building may also have served as a hiding place for Jewish insurgents of 66 CE.
