In eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti region, a piece of ancient jewelry was found in 2016, which scientists linked with the gladiators of ancient Rome.

The miniature element is shaped like a Roman gladius sword, which was probably worn as a necklace. According to specialists, the item could be a form of an amulet worn by an unknown gladiator from Rome. The item is dated to the 1st-2nd century CE. Similar amulets were found in other regions and were said to bring good luck during battles.

The Art Palace Museum in Tbilisi announced that the item was acquired from a private owner. However, it is not known whether it will be exposed to public view.
