In Caucasus human remains with Roman jewelry were found

In the autonomous republic of Russia – Kabardino-Balkaria – human remains were found, at which Roman jewelry was located. As estimated, the deceased woman lived almost 2,000 years ago.

The skeleton of the woman and the remains of a warrior and two other men with her were buried in a mass grave. The woman belonged to a highly situated family in the Caucasus. On the fingers of the woman were two beautifully decorated rings, and on her body lay a light purple amethyst medallion, whose origin scientists determined Roman.

Scientists suspect that the woman belonged to the ancient Alan people who conquered the lands of the Caucasus in the first and second centuries CE. Jewelry may have come to these areas as a result of trade or robbery.
