Large Roman bathhouse was found in Chichester

In Chichester (southern England) a large Roman bath was found. As it turns out, the building was big enough to accommodate four people. Volunteers also participated in the excavations.

Exploratory work took place in a public park. Interestingly, the project was also attended by local residents. According to the researchers, the thermal baths certainly belonged to a wealthy owner. There were traces of the heated room, which was warmed by the innovative sub-floor heating system.

In addition to the ruins of the building, fragments of tiles and ceramics were dug from the ground. It seems that researchers now want to focus on finding the domus, which was probably connected with the therms.
