Place of Caesar’s death will be open to tourists

Largo Argentina in Rome was so far visible to people walking from the upper street level; however, it was impossible to approach closer and admire the ruins. Lack of free access to the square for people caused that homeless cats found here shelters and formed a substantial colony.

In recent days, the mayor of the city of Rome – Virginia Raggi – declared that until late 2021, additional sidewalks would be led through the square next to the ruins. In this way, tourists will be able to take a closer look at ancient monuments.

What’s important, so-called Largo Argentina is the place where are located remains of four Roman temples and a fragment of the portico of the Pompey Theater, where in the year 44 BCE the conspirators murdered Caesar.
