Roman cemetery was discovered in southwestern England

Roman cemetery was found in Somerset (southwest England), where human remains belonging to 50 adults and children were found. The discovery happened by accident during the construction works carried out for the new school.

The cemetery is dated 43-410 CE, and among the graves found items submitted with the dead – including brooches.

According to the researchers, the burials were carved out of the rock ground, and this site also found remains of round houses from the Iron Age.

On-site archaeologists have been completed and further construction work for the school building is due to resume.
