In 2016, a team of archaeologists discovered the remains of a structure in France that they believed could have served as a local tavern in Roman times around 2,100 years ago.
The construction was located in the ancient city of Lattara. The researchers found that in one of the rooms there were grain mills and baking ovens, and in the other room, on the other side of the courtyard, there were benches by the walls around the hearth located on the floor.
Fishbones were found on the kitchen floor and sheep and cattle bones in the courtyard. Researchers also found fragments of a drinking bowl from Italy and remain from large plates.
