Roman skeletons discovered in Pontefract

Roman skeletons have been discovered in Pontefract (northern England). They were found on the outskirts of the city, where remains of a Roman center.

In total, archaeologists excavated over 30 skeletons. Human remains were buried with numerous ceramics and jewellery.

Skeletons are to be extracted from the ground and transported to a laboratory, where scientists will try to learn about the past of local residents. According to their suspicions, the bodies date back 1,700 years and belonged to local farmers.
