Roman villa was discovered in North East Wales

In North East Wales, at Wrexham, a Roman villa was discovered that dates back to the early 4th century CE. The discovery was made by seekers of ancient artefacts.

On the information about the numerous objects found from Roman times, archaeologists from the Wrexham Museum decided to perform a geodetic radar survey, which confirmed the assumptions about the Roman building. The photos show the presence of stone and bricks arranged around the courtyard.

According to researchers, the find is interesting because it can change scientists’ assumptions that the Romans in this area lived mainly in military centres or ordinary agricultural facilities. The villa sheds a new look at the presence of the Romans in the region.
