Tomb of Marcus Venerius Secundio was discovered in Pompeii

In August this year, researchers found the remains of a man named Marcus Venerius Secundio in Pompeii. The man is known by name thanks to the inscription from the tombstone.

The tombstone is dated to the 60s of the first century CE. There is also an inscription on the stone informing that the deceased, after the liberation, was involved in the organization of performances in Latin and Greek. Body analysis shows that the man died around the age of 60.

Apart from the preserved skeleton, a part of the ear, preserved hair and fragments of fabric were found.
