Unusual find in England from 1992
In 1992 there was an amazing discovery. In a field in the town of Hoxne, in the east of England, farmer Eric Lawes excavated a huge treasure from Roman times. As it turned out, the man did not look for historical artifacts, but only tried to find his lost hammer.
After extracting several silver spoons and gold coins from the ground, the man called the police and the archaeological association in the area.
As it turned out, the treasure was in a chest in which 15234 Roman coins, hundreds of silver spoons and 200 other gold objects were found. The finder received a £ 1.75 million award from the British government.
The Roman treasure found in Hoxne is the largest find of its kind in Britain.
