With great sadness, I received today the information about the death of Professor Aleksander Krawczuk (1922-2023). This is a huge loss not only for the family of the famous Polish historian but also for all people interested in ancient history, especially ancient Rome.
The Professor is one of the most distinguished Polish ancient historians. I must admit that it was the Professor’s books that interested me, to a large extent, in the history of ancient Rome, and it was then that I reached for first. I wanted to thank you very much for that!
In my opinion, Professor’s books are extremely pleasant publications for anyone who wants to explore the ancient world. The author does not hide his admiration for the discussed times, which only adds to their beautiful form. His works, such as “Poczet cesarzy rzymskich”, “Poczet cesarzowych Rzymu”, “Cesarz August”, “Gajusz Juliusz Cezar” and many others, are a beautiful monument to his scientific activity.
