Diana

Diana (Diviana), meaning “luminous”. Goddess of the moon, birth and hunting. She was identified with the Greek Artemis, who was both the goddess of light and wildlife. The Romans worshiped her for her beauty, hunting skills, perfect figure, and strength.

Initially, the place of worship of Diana was the groves, later the temple on Aventine hill built by Servis Tullius. A special kind of worship was bestowed in the grove near Aricie, where priests treated the sick with water from local sources.
