He was a supporter of strict and old Roman traditions, the origin of which dates back to the Samnites. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time, <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/cato-the-elder\/\">Cato the Elder<\/a> &#8211; <b>in his office of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-republic\/roman-offices\/censor\/\">censor<\/a><\/b> and overseeing the moral life of the Romans &#8211; criticized Senator Manilius for kissing his wife in front of his daughter during the day. Kato stated that he personally never allowed himself to get close to his wife. The only exception was a <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/kiss-in-antiquity\/\">kiss<\/a> in a thunderstorm.
