The scene shows an injured, bleeding rooster (right) bowing its head as a gesture of submission.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On the right, we see the broken owner of a defeated rooster, who probably lost a lot of money, and his <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-society\/social-layers-of-ancient-rome\/slavery-in-ancient-rome\/\">slave<\/a>. On the left, the owner of the winning rooster, offering a laurel wreath to the statue of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/priapus\/\">Priapus<\/a>. On the mosaic, we also see a boy with a palm of victory.<\/p>\n<p>The object comes from <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/pompeii\/\">Pompeii<\/a> and is dated to the 1st century BCE.
