With the help of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-society\/social-layers-of-ancient-rome\/slavery-in-ancient-rome\/\">slaves<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/siege-machines-of-ancient-romans\/roman-tunnels\/\">tunnels<\/a> were dug in the mountain, through which the water was then diverted by at least seven <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-architecture\/roman-buildings\/roman-aqueducts\/\">aqueducts<\/a>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The water literally broke the mountain into pieces and then helped to wash out the gold. It was probably the most important mine of this ore in the entire Empire.
