Then, after removing the son of <strong>Herod the Great<\/strong> &#8211; the ethnarch of Samaria, Idumea, and Judea &#8211; <strong>Herod Archelaos <\/strong>(4 BCE &#8211; 6 CE)<sup class=\"footnote\" data-qtip=\"The years of the reign of Herod Archelaus\" data-footid=\"1\">1<\/sup> from power and accession <strong>Quirinius<\/strong> for the implementation of the census ordered by the emperor <strong>Octavian Augustus<\/strong> riots broke out. They were used by <strong>Judah the Galilean<\/strong>, who led an uprising against Rome and founded together with the\u00a0<strong>Zadok the Pharisee <\/strong>the Zealot party<sup class=\"footnote\" data-qtip=\"A political and religious group that set itself the goal of fighting the Romans and their Jewish collaborators.\" data-footid=\"2\">2<\/sup>. He himself died during the uprising. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The title <em>praefectus Judeae<\/em> was in force until 41 CE when the emperor <strong>Claudius<\/strong> removed the incumbent prefect and installed King <strong>Herod Agrippa I<\/strong> as ruler. After his death<sup class=\"footnote\" data-qtip=\"He died in 44 CE.\" data-footid=\"3\">3<\/sup> Judea became directly subject to Rome again and then <strong>Cuspius Fadus<\/strong> became governor, but the title of his office was <em>procurator<\/em>.
