Recently open to visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ruins of <em>Horrea Piperataria<\/em> \u2013 former storehouses used to store valuable spices from Asia and Egypt, such as pepper, cardamom and anise \u2013 are located in the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo in Rome. These buildings also housed incense, which played a crucial role in religious ceremonies and medicinal practices. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The building was organized around open courtyards with porticoes. Goods were stored on several floors, as evidenced by traces of staircases.<br \/>\nIn ancient Rome, spices were not just a culinary luxury.
