This example features additional decorations in the form of seahorses and lions, inspired by motifs known from ancient Roman art.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Murmillo were heavily armored gladiators. They most often fought with a large rectangular shield and a short gladius sword. Their weaponry was partially based on the equipment of Roman legionaries.<\/p>\n<p>The helmet on display is a modern reconstruction made for the production of the TV series &#8220;Spartacus&#8221;.
