Swastika, as a result of Hitler and Nazi Germany, became a symbol of hatred and racial segregation. Not many however realize that \u5350 symbol was already used in ancient times, all around the world, and had a completely different meaning.<\/p>\n
The word “swastika” comes from Sanskrit and means “bringing happiness.” Swastika is a religious symbol, present in most cultures and religions of the world. Also in the Greek-Roman world, the swastika was used and often appeared in ornamentation and art.<\/p>\n
In the Mediterranean area, scientists are discovering new examples of swastika. This symbol appears on mosaics, frescos or on the walls of Christian catacombs, in eg. in Rome<\/a>.
