The veteran asked August to defend him in court.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/augustus\/\">Augustus<\/a> replied that he would appoint an appropriate lawyer to look after his case. The veteran said: &#8220;At Actium when you were in danger, I did not seek another to fight for me; I fought for you myself&#8221;. Those words embarrassed the Emperor so much that he agreed to personally defend the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/life-of-a-roman-legionary\/\">legionary<\/a> in court.
