Initially (up to the 5th century BCE) the form used in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/article\/greece-birth-of-city\/\">Greece<\/a> only for the representation of Hermes, the god of the journey. On herma also was placed the image of the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/phallus-symbol-in-roman-and-greek-world\/\">phallus<\/a>, which in ancient times was a symbol of happiness. Later, other <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/\">gods<\/a> and heroes were presented in this way. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Herma was taken over by Roman art.
