Unfortunately, the ruler vomited poison and conspirators with prefect Laetus hired a wrestler <b><em>Narcissus<\/em><\/b> to finish the work. The Roman wrestler strangled the emperor in the bathhouse. After his death, the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-republic\/roman-offices\/roman-senate\/\">Senate<\/a> announced the erasure of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/commodus\/\">Commodus<\/a> from history (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-law\/damnatio-memoriae\/\">damnatio memoriae<\/a><\/em>). <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, however, in 195 CE once <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/septimius-severus\/\">Septimius Severus<\/a> took the power after the civil war, Commodus was deified.
