In the year 48 BCE <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/units-of-roman-army\/roman-legion\/\">legio<\/a> XXIV Victrix Rapax commanded by legate Gaius Antonius (brother of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/mark-antony\/\">Mark Antony<\/a>) was cut off on the island and surrounded by faithful troops of Pompey. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Then it was Titus Pullo &#8211; mentioned by <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/gaius-julius-caesar\/\">Caesar<\/a> in &#8220;Bellum Gallicum&#8221; &#8211; who persuaded most of legionaries to rebel and together with him join <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/gnaeus-pompeius-magnus\/\">Pompey&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/\">army<\/a>. Later, they took part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/battles\/battle-of-pharsalus\/\">battle of the Pharsalus<\/a>.
