In general, the ruler directed them to soldiers before the commencement of the war campaign, during a visit or on another particularly important occasion. <em>Adlocutio<\/em> can be seen only on numismatic monuments, where usually the emperor is standing on the tribune (<em>suggestus<\/em>), assisted by <em>praefectus castrorum<\/em>, who directs his speech towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/\">army<\/a> presented in the form of ensigns (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/units-of-roman-army\/signifer\/\">signifer<\/a><\/em>).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is known i.e. from Gordian Pius medallion, coins of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/galba\/\">Galba<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/trajan\/\">Trajan<\/a> or from the entire series of sestertii of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/hadrian\/\">Hadrian<\/a>, where the emperor is usually depicted on horseback and showing his <em>adlocutio<\/em> towards troops in various parts of the empire.
