Celius was also charged with the assassination of Egypt&#8217;s emissary, Dion.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He came to <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a> to seek support for <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/article\/berenice-jewish-lover-of-titus\/\">Berenice<\/a> IV and was murdered shortly after arriving in the city. Celius&#8217;s defenses were taken by <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/cicero\/\">Cicero<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/marcus-licinius-crassus\/\">Marcus Crassus<\/a>. Eventually, Celius was acquitted after Cicero convinced the judges that Clodia&#8217;s accusation was only revenge for abandoning her.
