The panel presents <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/septimius-severus\/\">Septimius Severus<\/a> with Julia Domna and her sons: <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/caracalla\/\">Caracalla<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/geta\/\">Geta<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>All members of the imperial family are dressed in ceremonial robes, and the sons and their father hold in their hands sceptres decorated with precious stones.<\/p>\n<p>It is characteristic that Geta&#8217;s face has been erased from the image. This was due to the condemnation of memory &#8211; <em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-law\/damnatio-memoriae\/\">damnatio memoriae<\/a><\/em>, which ordered <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/caracalla\/\">Caracalla<\/a> after the murder of his brother in 212 CE.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Severan Tondo&#8221; is one of several preserved examples of panel paintings from the period of antiquity.
