The port was built during the reign of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/klaudiusz\/\">Emperor Claudius<\/a> (41-54 CE) and was greatly expanded during the reign of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/trajan\/\">Emperor Trajan<\/a> (98-117 CE), to be complementary to the port <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/geografia\/miasta-rzymskie\/ostia\/\">Ostia<\/a>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It was located on the northern bank of the Tiber estuary to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The port covered 69 ha, had two long piers towards the sea and an artificially built island with a lighthouse.<\/p>\n<p>Probably during the reign of Claudius, a 24 km road from <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a> to the Port called <em>Via Portuensis<\/em> was also created. It ran through the modern mountainous region <em>Ponte Galeria<\/em>, and then a flat clearing.<\/p>\n<p>In 103 CE Emperor <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/trajan\/\">Trajan<\/a> added another port to <em>Portus<\/em> &#8211; a hexagonal pool with an area of \u200b\u200b39 ha &#8211; which connected with the construction of Claudius through a series of channels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":40438,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"kategorie_ciekawostek":[89],"class_list":["post-56036","ciekawostki","type-ciekawostki","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","kategorie_ciekawostek-places"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki\/56036","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ciekawostki"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki\/56036\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/40438"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=56036"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"kategorie_ciekawostek","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kategorie_ciekawostek?post=56036"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
