{"id":56972,"date":"2019-11-29T21:48:04","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T20:48:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/ciekawostka\/roman-floor-mosaic-showing-battle-of-issos\/"},"modified":"2021-06-12T08:12:58","modified_gmt":"2021-06-12T06:12:58","slug":"roman-floor-mosaic-showing-battle-of-issos","status":"publish","type":"ciekawostki","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/roman-floor-mosaic-showing-battle-of-issos\/","title":{"rendered":"Roman floor mosaic showing battle of Issos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Roman floor <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-mosaic\/\">mosaic<\/a> depicting the battle of Issos (333 BCE), in which Macedonians, commanded by Alexander the Great, with the Persian <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/\">army<\/a>, led by Darius III. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The object was found in the so-called House of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/fauna\/\">Fauna<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/pompeii\/\">Pompeii<\/a>. The mosaic is 2,72 wide by 5,13 m long. The artifact is currently in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.
