He is considered the <b>first barbarian<\/b> who wore imperial purple. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He was also the first emperor who never appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a> and the first of a whole series of so-called <b>soldier <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-empire\/roman-emperors\/\">emperors<\/a><\/b>. His rule is considered the beginning of the crisis of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century CE.<\/p>\n<p>Ancient sources, both unbelievable as &#8220;Historia Augusta&#8221; and the more sensible (Herodian) mentions Maximinus Thrax as a man of &#8220;huge size&#8221; for those conditions.
