The “Associated Architects Studio” has created an amazing reconstruction of the ancient port city of Ostia<\/a> Antica and the great port of Rome<\/a> – Portus. Portus was created during the reign of Emperor Claudius<\/a> (41-54 CE), however, the visualization shows the internal hexagonal pool of the port, which was built during Trajan<\/a>, at the beginning of the 2nd century CE.<\/p>\n

Ostia Antica, in turn, was located above the mouth of the Tiber. The city experienced its glory period in the second century CE. during the reign of Hadrian<\/a> and Marcus Aurelius<\/a>. The first emperor ordered the construction of a channel connecting Portus with the Tiber; when Aurelius significantly expanded the port city itself.<\/p>\n
