{"id":87495,"date":"2021-01-13T09:21:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T08:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/?post_type=ciekawostki&#038;p=87495"},"modified":"2021-01-13T09:22:32","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T08:22:32","slug":"reconstruction-of-temple-of-divine-caesar","status":"publish","type":"ciekawostki","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/reconstruction-of-temple-of-divine-caesar\/","title":{"rendered":"Reconstruction of temple of divine Caesar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reconstruction of the temple of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/gaius-julius-caesar\/\">divine Caesar<\/a> (<em>Templum Divi Iulii<\/em>) at <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-architecture\/roman-buildings\/forum-romanum\/\">Forum Romanum<\/a>, between the Region, the Temple of Castors and the Aemilian Basilica, where Caesar&#8217;s body was cremated and his testament read aloud by <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/mark-antony\/\">Mark Antony<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After his death, <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/caesar-queen-of-nicomedes\/\">Caesar<\/a> was recognized as a god by the Roman <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-republic\/roman-offices\/roman-senate\/\">Senate<\/a>. Construction began in 42 BCE on the command <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/augustus\/\">Octavian Augustus<\/a>. The temple was dedicated on August 18, 29 BCE.<\/p>\n<p>Caesar was the first Roman citizen to be elevated to <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/\">gods<\/a> and honoured with his own temple. His tabernacle was to be supervised by a newly appointed priest <i>Flamen Divi Julii<\/i>. It is worth adding that the temple of the divine Caesar was also dedicated to the comet that was to appear shortly after <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/article\/assassination-of-julius-caesar\/\">Caesar&#8217;s murder in 44 BCE<\/a> It was thought to represent Caesar&#8217;s soul and symbol August&#8217;s new birth as an independent ruler and heir.<\/p>\n<p>The temple was on a platform that served as the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/kultura\/architektura-rzymska\/budowle-rzymskie\/rostra\/\">rostra<\/a> which were decorated with pieces of ships defeated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/battles\/battle-of-actium\/\">battle of Actium<\/a> in 31 BCE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":40360,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"kategorie_ciekawostek":[92],"class_list":["post-87495","ciekawostki","type-ciekawostki","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","kategorie_ciekawostek-reconstructions"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki\/87495","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ciekawostki"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ciekawostki\/87495\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/40360"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=87495"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"kategorie_ciekawostek","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kategorie_ciekawostek?post=87495"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
