Facilis commanded a <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/military-formations-of-ancient-romans\/centuria\/\">centuria<\/a>, that is, a detachment of 80 to 100 soldiers. His unit was stationed at the fort in <em>Colonia Victricensis\/Camulodunum<\/em>. This tombstone is one of the oldest surviving Roman sculptures in Britain.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The centurion probably died several years after the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/wojny\/podboj-brytanii-przez-klaudiusza\/\">conquest of Britain<\/a> and was buried in the cemetery on the road to Londinium. This tombstone is one of the oldest surviving Roman sculptures in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/geografia\/prowincje-rzymskie\/spis-prowincji-rzymskich\/brytania-rzymska\/\">Britain<\/a>; it was preserved in such good condition, probably because it was knocked down during the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/wojny\/powstanie-boudiki\/\">Boudica revolt<\/a> (60-61 CE) and it was covered with earth for <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/almost-2000-years-old-roman-face-cream\/\">almost 2<\/a> millennia.
