Construction work was stopped after his death. The <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-architecture\/roman-buildings\/neros-golden-house\/\">Golden House<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/nero\/\">Nero<\/a>, also known as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-architecture\/roman-house\/\">Domus<\/a> Aurea,<\/em> was located between the Palatine and Esquiline hills. It was in the &#8220;Golden House&#8221; that Nero spent his last day of life in 68 CE. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This investment was met with huge opposition and unpopularity by the Romans, mainly due to the high costs associated with, among other things, the shocking splendor of the decor. Due to this state of affairs, the project was never completed.
