The statue was probably even 12 meters high and was located in front of the Temple of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/hercules\/\">Hercules<\/a> in Amman (Jordan). <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The statue in question was perhaps the largest marble statue of its kind in history to have been damaged by an earthquake. Only three fingers and an elbow have survived.<\/p>\n<p>The temple was built between 162-166 CE, that is during the reign of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/marek-aureliusz\/\">Emperor Marcus Aurelius<\/a>. The building was 30 meters long and 24 wide.
