The object is an extremely unique find, as it has the oldest musical composition in the world. The artifact is dated between 2nd BCE and 2nd century CE.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The text of the song along with the melody is carved in stone in Greek.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"center\">\n<p class=\"quote\">h\u00f3son z\u00eais, pha\u00ednou<br \/>\nm\u0113d\u00e8n h\u00f3l\u014ds s\u00f9 lupo\u00fb<br \/>\npr\u00f2s ol\u00edgon \u00e9sti t\u00f2 z\u00ean<br \/>\nt\u00f2 t\u00e9los ho khr\u00f3nos apaite\u00ee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"quote\">While you live, shine<br \/>\nhave no grief at all<br \/>\nlife exists only for a short while<br \/>\nand Time demands his due<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Below is the reconstruction of the performance:<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9RjBePQV4xE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>There is also an inscription on the tombstone: <em>Eik\u014dn h\u0113 l\u00edthos eim\u00ed. T\u00edth\u0113s\u00ed me Se\u00edkilos \u00e9ntha mn\u0113m\u0113s athan\u00e1tou s\u0113ma polychr\u00f3nion<\/em>, which translates to &#8220;I am a tombstone, an image. Seikilos placed me here as a long-lasting sign of deathless remembrance&#8221;.
