In eastern Serbia, the remains of a Roman mausoleum from the 3rd century CE were found. The discovery took place at an excavation site in Viminacium, east of Belgrade, near the town of Kostolac. <\/p>\n
Archaeologists found a stone head of a young man, a carefully carved hand holding a sword and fragments of a weapon. In addition, the wings of the eagle<\/a>, which was the symbol of Jupiter<\/a> and the Roman Empire<\/a>, were found.<\/p>\n According to scientists, the mausoleum probably belonged to one of the emperors<\/a>, and the building was destroyed as a result of the damnatio memoriae<\/a>,<\/em> the policy of oblivion.
