In the English town of Overton (near York) a collection of 37 silver Roman coins was found. Scientists finally recognized the find as a treasure.<\/p>\n
The discovery took place in September 2016. The coins were accompanied by pottery fragments. Some of the coins date back to 69 CE, i.e. the reign of Emperor Vespasian<\/a>. Scientists suspect that the coins were buried during the stay of Emperor Septimius Severus<\/a> and his family in this place.<\/p>\n Finally, after a long process of evaluating the find, the Yorkshire Museum authorities decided to acquire the coins.
