{"id":118475,"date":"2023-02-06T08:43:14","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T07:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/?post_type=odkrycia-rzymskie&#038;p=118475"},"modified":"2023-02-06T08:43:14","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T07:43:14","slug":"gladiator-item-discovered-in-eastern-georgia","status":"publish","type":"odkrycia-rzymskie","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/discoveries\/gladiator-item-discovered-in-eastern-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Gladiator item discovered in eastern Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti region, a piece of ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/article\/jewelry-in-ancient-rome\/\">jewelry<\/a> was found in 2016, which scientists linked with the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-society\/entertainment-in-ancient-rome\/gladiator-fights\/\">gladiators<\/a> of ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The miniature element is shaped like a Roman <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/equipment-of-roman-legionary\/gladius-roman-sword\/\">gladius<\/a> sword, which was probably worn as a necklace. According to specialists, the item could be a form of an amulet worn by an unknown gladiator from Rome. The item is dated to the 1st-2nd century CE. Similar amulets were found in other regions and were said to bring good luck during <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/battles-of-ancient-rome\/\">battles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Art Palace Museum in Tbilisi announced that the item was acquired from a private owner.
