They found the skeleton of a child that dates back to Roman times.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The bones were in a Roman clay jar that protruded from the ground in a 35-meter-wide cave Grotta delle Capre (&#8220;Goat Cave&#8221;). The cave is located on a rock promontory Monte Circeo, rising 541 meters above the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p>According to scientists, the cave served as a shelter for goats for hundreds of years. Researchers do not rule out that the child&#8217;s remains are an example of a ritual burial in this region.
