{"id":156580,"date":"2025-07-13T19:32:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/?post_type=odkrycia-rzymskie&#038;p=156580"},"modified":"2025-07-13T19:32:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:32:52","slug":"ancient-fast-food-discovered-in-pompeii","status":"publish","type":"odkrycia-rzymskie","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/discoveries\/ancient-fast-food-discovered-in-pompeii\/","title":{"rendered":"Ancient &#8220;fast food&#8221; discovered in Pompeii"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Archaeologists have recently come across some interesting finds in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/pompeii\/\">Pompeii<\/a>, including a counter where quick meals were served, which we would now call &#8220;fast food&#8221;.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Such a place in ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a> was called <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/ciekawostka\/thermopolium-antyczny-uliczny-bar\/\"><em>thermopolium<\/em><\/a>, and so far, about a dozen such places have been discovered in the city. Roman fast <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-society\/eating-habits-of-romans\/\">food<\/a> restaurants primarily catered to the poorer classes of society, who lacked kitchens or the ability to prepare their own meals in their buildings.<\/p>\n<p>In such a restaurant, one could eat whole-grain bread with salted fish, baked cheese, lentils, or drink well-seasoned wine.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery was made in the so-called Regio V in Pompeii \u2013 which is not open to tourists and has been the site of intensive excavations since the 1960s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":48817,"template":"","class_list":["post-156580","odkrycia-rzymskie","type-odkrycia-rzymskie","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/odkrycia-rzymskie\/156580","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/odkrycia-rzymskie"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/odkrycia-rzymskie"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/odkrycia-rzymskie\/156580\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/48817"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=156580"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
