A team of Egyptian archaeologists found the remains of the ancient port of Tell Abu Saifi – 3 km east of the Suez Canal. The preserved ruins were once a shipyard for boats and ships.<\/p>\n
According to the researchers, the ruins are dated to Ptolemaic and Roman times. The place where the discovery was made was once a Roman city – Sila.<\/p>\n
The remains of the building show two dry docks with a rectangular building between them. The larger dock is located in the east, which was surrounded by a 6-meter wide wall. There, also repair and maintenance of vessels took place.<\/p>\n
There were also found remnants of spread wooden beams in organized layers. This indicates that those were probably to be used to repair the boats.<\/p>\n
