{"id":85148,"date":"2020-11-25T10:18:48","date_gmt":"2020-11-25T09:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/?post_type=odkrycia-rzymskie&#038;p=85148"},"modified":"2020-11-25T10:18:48","modified_gmt":"2020-11-25T09:18:48","slug":"foundations-of-large-structure-were-discovered-in-serbia","status":"publish","type":"odkrycia-rzymskie","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/discoveries\/foundations-of-large-structure-were-discovered-in-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundations of large structure were discovered in Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In eastern Serbia, in the ancient Viminacium, the foundations of a large building that scientists believe could be the headquarters of the VII Claudia <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/units-of-roman-army\/roman-legion\/\">Legion<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, researchers learned about the remains of structures hidden underground thanks to a georadar and a magnetometer. As it turned out, the stone walls were one meter underground.<\/p>\n<p>The building had 3,500 m<sup>2<\/sup> area; 70 m long and 50 m wide; the building had 40 different rooms. At the moment, 800 m<sup>2<\/sup> have been excavated from under the ground, and outside the walls, traces of waterworks and a fountain have been found.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s more, apart from the building, a large number of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/roman-silver-coins\/\">Roman silver coins<\/a> were also discovered &#8211; denarii and antoniniani from the 3rd century CE.
