{"id":97274,"date":"2021-10-24T09:57:45","date_gmt":"2021-10-24T07:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/?post_type=odkrycia-rzymskie&#038;p=97274"},"modified":"2021-10-24T09:58:43","modified_gmt":"2021-10-24T07:58:43","slug":"amazing-reconstruction-of-ara-pacis","status":"publish","type":"odkrycia-rzymskie","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/discoveries\/amazing-reconstruction-of-ara-pacis\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazing reconstruction of Ara Pacis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the &#8220;Altair4 Multimedia&#8221; team digitally recreate the look of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/kultura\/architektura-rzymska\/budowle-rzymskie\/ara-pacis\/\"><em>Ara Pacis<\/em><\/a> &#8211; the &#8220;Altar of Peace&#8221; commissioned by the <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-constitution\/roman-republic\/roman-offices\/roman-senate\/\">Senate<\/a> on the occasion of its return Octavian <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/augustus\/\">Augustus<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a>, in the year 13 BCE. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-art-and-culture\/roman-architecture\/roman-buildings\/ara-pacis\/\">Ara Pacis<\/a> Augustae<\/em> was dedicated to the Roman deity of peace &#8211; <em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/pax\/\">Pax<\/a><\/em> (the equivalent of the Greek <em>Eirene<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>In the reconstruction, the &#8220;Altar of Peace&#8221; is located in the north-eastern corner of the Field of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/mars\/\">Mars<\/a> (currently the building is hidden under the roof of <em>Museo dell&#8217;Ara Pacis<\/em>) <em>.<\/em> Beautiful decorations and carvings have been coloured, which allows us to see how beautiful the work of <em>Ara Pacis<\/em> was in Roman times.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8P023rBHU84\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>Western and the eastern part of the building show scenes from Roman mythology, including a Roman warrior goddess (<em>bellatrix<\/em>) &#8211; probably Roma &#8211; sitting on a pile of weapons.
