It is believed that the origin of this banner comes from the Sarmatians who, along with the Dacians, were frequently recruited into <a title=\"Auxilia\" href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/wojsko\/jednostki-armii-rzymskiej\/auxilia\/\">auxiliary troops<\/a> (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-army\/units-of-roman-army\/auxilia\/\">auxilia<\/a><\/em>) at the beginning of the 2nd century CE<\/p>\n<p><em>Draco<\/em> consisted of a brown, yawning <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/dragon-on-ancient-mosaic\/\">dragon<\/a> head and a snake-shaped body (in fabric). The wind blew through the dragon&#8217;s brown maw and flapped its tail made of fabric in the style of today&#8217;s airport sleeve.
