{"id":57977,"date":"2020-01-08T20:46:05","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T19:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/agonalia\/"},"modified":"2022-08-13T09:36:29","modified_gmt":"2022-08-13T07:36:29","slug":"agonalia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/roman-feasts\/agonalia\/","title":{"rendered":"Agonalia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Agonalia<\/em> (also called <em>Agonium Martiale<\/em> or <em>Agonia<\/em>) was a Roman holiday celebrated several times in <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/honor\/\">honor<\/a> of various deities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January 9 &#8211; in honor of the god of all beginnings <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/janus\/\">Janus<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>March 17 &#8211; in honor of the god of war <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/mars\/\">Mars<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>May 21 &#8211; in honor of the god of the underworld and the death of <em>Veiovisa<\/em> (holiday <em>Veiovisa<\/em>);<\/li>\n<li>December 11 &#8211; in honor of the sun god <em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/list-of-roman-gods\/sol-god-of-sun\/\">Sol<\/a> Indiges<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the day of the <em>Rex Sacrorum<\/em> (also called <em>rex sacrificulus<\/em>) <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/curiosities\/suovetaurilia-sacrifice\/\">sacrifice<\/a> a ram (<em><em>aries<\/em><\/em>) in Regia, asking God for favor and protection against evil and death.
