In the beginning, it was a village festival during which farmers made offerings asking for peace in the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/biografie\/oktawian-august\/\">Octavian Augustus<\/a> changed the nature of the celebration after the division of <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-geography\/roman-cities\/rome-eternal-city\/\">Rome<\/a> into 265 districts, he ordered chapels to be erected on all streets and border crossings between the districts in honour of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/roman-religion\/gods-of-ancient-rome\/lares\/\">Lares<\/a> Compitales<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>These chapels then became <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/religia\/bogowie-starozytnego-rzymu\/spis-bogow-rzymskich\/geniusz\/\">the cult of the Genius<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/en\/biographies\/augustus\/\">Augustus<\/a>, which eventually grew into the cult of Lares Augusti. In these chapels, sacrifices were made asking for peace, while the main ceremonies were held at <a href=\"https:\/\/imperiumromanum.pl\/kultura\/architektura-rzymska\/budowle-rzymskie\/ara-pacis\/\">Ara Pacis<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Feast of Peace was a Roman festival where sacrifices were made on the altars of peace.
