Amazing Roman mask

Roman mask, made of bronze, which was worn by cavalary-men during the competitions, so-called hippika gymnasia. Dated to 1st – 2nd century CE.
Hippika gymnasia was a Roman cavalary competition, which aimed to show the skills of riders. The show took place on the parade square in front of the command. This type of event could have been observed even by emperor Hadrian in 128 CE in Lambaesis, in modern Algeria.
